New Teacher Chat Formation:
New Teacher Chat and the hashtag #ntchat on Twitter was founded on May 5th, 2010 by Lisa Dabbs @teachwithsoul. The chat took a hiatus from Jan. 2017 to August 2019. It is now back and going strong with additional moderators, Cassie Reeder @cassiereederedu and Chuck Poole @cpoole27.
Chat format and goals:
The chat was created to provide weekly mentoring and focus on the needs of new, new to the profession and pre-service teachers world-wide. The focus of the chat is to be practitioner focused with supportive resources for all participants, particularly those new to the profession.
New teachers collaborate weekly during #ntchat by sharing ideas and resources with others as well as concerns they have as they prepare to enter the profession.
Experienced, tenured teachers are encouraged to take part in New Teacher Chat to support and mentor this eager and excited group.

Chuck Poole (@cpoole27)
"I have been teaching for nearly 20 years and I believe teachers can change the world. I understand that there are times when we feel overwhelmed and frustrated. I don’t have all the answers and I won’t pretend that I am a master motivator or the ultimate inspiration for kids. I will say though that I believe in teachers and I believe that the impact we have on a daily basis can be remarkable. My vision is to create a community for teachers where they can be inspired and empowered to do amazing things everyday!"

Lisa Dabbs (@teachwithsoul)
Lisa Dabbs is a wife and Mom. She started her career as an elementary school teacher in Southern California. In this role as teacher, she assisted with a grant project and became the Project Director of a Language and Literacy program. Soon after she was called to serve as an elementary school Principal, and did that for 14 years.
During that time she recruited, hired, trained and mentored over 200 new and veteran teachers at her school sites. She watched their failures as well as coached them to success. As an administrator the most significant aspect she observed in their journey was the power that mentorship brings to creating a successful teaching career. As a result, she’s passionately committed to the mission that no teacher, should have to go through their teaching days alone.
